The other picture was taken the night before we left the island. The four of us sat out on the edge of a golf course in Kona overlooking the ocean. We were hoping to catch a glimpse of a whale but instead we enjoyed this incredible sunset. Honey, I hope you are enjoying the sunsets . . .

Memories. . .
Can you guess who the long-legged, white-tights wearing girl is? How about the tall handsome guy in the white suit she is dancing with? Yep, that is me and my dad! It was a Daddy/Daughter dance put on by my church ward back in the day when those suits and plaid pants were so hip. It seems like it must have been between 1975 and 1977. Anyway, I had so much fun at that dance. I can't tell you how much it meant for me to have my dad participate in these events. I don't think he knew very many, if any, of the other dads. Dad was a policeman and I would imagine he had to rearrange his schedule and even make sure he had a "groovy" suit for the occasion. I'm also sure that there were other ways to relieve stress than by spending an evening dancing the night away at a church. I was, and still am, a very lucky girl to have made these memories with my dad! Thank you, Dad. I love you!
P.S. Dad, do you remember the Daddy/Daughter Olympics they had at the church in '76? I sure wish I had a picture of the tricycle race you and I had to attempt. You were on the tricycle and I had to push you. Your legs were so long that you had to hang them over the handlebars to pedal. All of the dads had trouble, but you were the tallest one there. It was a pretty funny sight to see!

Emma and her guy!
Last Friday night, Eric and Emma attended a "Me and My Guy" dance. It was set up by Girl Scout troops in the area. Only scouts and their "guy" were able to attend. It was a big deal! Eric actually bought a suit. It is the first suit that he has ever owned. Emma wore a cute dress with lavender accents so Eric was a good sport and wore a tie that matched--a lavender plaid one, to be exact. They both looked pretty good.
Dancing to YMCA in a suit with a little girl jumping like a yo-yo is an experience that I will not soon forget. Emma was worn out after the first hour; she will need to learn how to pace herself so she can dance longer.
This is an account from Emma---"It was very fun! They played Mamma Mia music. They had a disco ball. They had fun lights. My daddy looked good, but funny, too. We did silly things like dancing weirdly and daddy swung me up in the air. We had our picture taken and some of my Daisy friends were also there. I think I looked pretty!"
But soft, what light through yonder window breaks. . .
Katy spent nearly all of last week performing as Juliet in a few scenes of her 4th grade class play, Romeo & Juliet. She did such a great job! Eric and I were so proud of her. Maybe if her academic career does not pan out. . .Ha Ha!
An amazing amount of work went into the production. Every student in the class had at least one part. I think only one boy did not as he had the job of the "sound/music" man. They all did a fantastic job learning their lines! The kids did their school work around the two weeks of classroom rehearsals. Many moms were responsible for the set background and costumes. All of the other classes in the school provided the rehearsal audience. They had rehearsals twice a day last week and then it all ended with an evening performance for the parents. We taped one of the rehearsals and hope to get that sent out to any and all who care to see it.
